Following the removal of a separate phone line for fax and alarm central station, the alarm’s connection to the main residential line was causing incoming calls to divert to 1571. With no joy from BT these days on premises-side wiring and myself being unwilling to allow the alarm company to tinker with comms, I phoned Tony’s land line and left a message. He was back to me within 30 minutes (unlike a recommended ex-BT engineer given by Banham who failed to return any of 4 calls) and Tony agreed a visit for 2 days later. Tony arrived punctually early mporning and, after reviewing problems, tested and found a variety of faults by gradual elimination. The ADSL plate (an early V 1.0 BT box from 2001) was upgraded to the latest NTE-5C box that dramatically improved the Ping response (this without our being troubled by poor performance), replaced some dodgy old BT Cat 5 wiring and tidied up the crammed kroner block box. All this took longer than he would have normally budgeted for but the charge was not inflated and came in at a very reasonable amount inclusive of the cost of the 5C box. This was much less than I was expecting and I will be recommending Tony to friends and relatives where telecomms expertise is required”.
